I am a layperson, earning an A.A.S. in forestry in 1982, having been a geology undergrad in the mid-1980s, and retired from medical transcription in 2014 after twenty-five years -- now enjoying a new chance to explore earth science thanks to the Internet and (finally) some free time. I have been blogging here for years, have some eBooks out, and hope to make this science writing gig full-time.
(By the way, in my personal life, I have stalkers and so must ask that you let me know at dnevins360@gmail.com if anyone claiming to be my family approaches you)
