Just to get you in the mood, if you have an hour to spare (also, bush dogs fishing at 0.09!):
Yes, we’ve been introduced to the Amazon’s wild dogs.
However, this jargon-free page by the Amazonian Canids Working Group goes into a lot more detail on them.
So here are more detailed videos on the:
- Short-eared dog:
From 11 years ago.
- Crab-eating fox:
In the Pantanal, with a note that they usually come out at night but, like this one, sometimes during the early morning.
- Bush dog (my personal favorite Amazonian wild dog because of its strange appearance):
This 9-year-old video was recorded in a Japanese zoo, but it probably is impossible to get such clear and close views out in the wild. This really shows the dog-like qualities of an extremely pack-oriented Amazonian canine.
- Hoary fox:
Also in the Pantanal.
- Pampas fox:
- Sechuran fox:
Some of these species live outside the Amazon Basin, too.
