Update, June 3, 2023, 3:37 p.m., Pacific: Yesterday was a busy day for me and I’ve only just gotten back online.
As majestic as it is in that GIF, Don Goyo was fairly quiet until the middle of yesterday, per CENAPRED June 2 and June 3 reports.
They note that tremor picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., associated with some slight ash emissions.
Although this is not yet as intense as the volcano’s activity has been lately, they are keeping it at YELLOW, PHASE 3.
There is a VAAC ash advisory up, and about 15 minutes ago TROPOMI tweeted this:
On 2023-06-03 #TROPOMI has detected an enhanced SO2 signal of 11.48DU at a distance of 94.5km to #Popocatepetl. @tropomi #S5p #Sentinel5p @DLR_en @BIRA_IASB @ESA_EO #SO2LH pic.twitter.com/k8Ag4hSkoX

Here is a satellite view of the Colossus of Puebla on June 1st. Its heart was still on fire, and now? Well, let’s wait and see —
Yesterday's view of #Popocatepetl #volcano in #Mexico.
It seems that strong emission of ash has stopped.
