Update, May 30, 2023, 9:15 a.m., Pacific: The good news is that there is no volcano news on the media outlets I’ve been following, though everyone is still keeping an eye on Don Goyo.
The volcano, at least for the moment, has dialled back “terrifying” to its more usual “picturesque” setting:
🌋 #Volcán #Popocatépetl con nube lenticular esta noche.
Vista: #Altzomoni.
🚦 Semáforo de Alerta Volcánica: #AmarilloFase3.
🚷 Respeta el radio de exclusión de 12 km.

That is moonlight, by the way, not the light of day. They have very sensitive cameras; also, it was a fairly clear sky.
Still, [LAYPERSON SPECULATION]there is a very strong heat source very close to the surface, and ground water is responding accordingly[/LAYPERSON SPECULATION]:

Enough ash is coming out for a long, albeit narrow, cloud forecast from Washington VAAC currently:
As of right now, the CENAPRED daily report is not up on its website, although the geophysicists might have jumped the gun a bit.
Hope today continues to be picturesque — Popo is very good at that ❤

Back from before things got terrifying.
We’ll see how things go.
