Update, May 29, 2023, 10:15 a.m., Pacific: Yes, it continues putting out mostly steam, though CENAPRED reports some ashfall in various communities.

The extent of possible ash shown in the current VAAC advisory is much smaller than it has been recently!



In Puebla state, students went back to class in various places today after remote learning that had been instituted during the period of heavy ashfall was lifted.

I understand that some parks have reopened and other outdoor restrictions are off now, too. Hope Don Goyo allows that to continue!

The area has been getting lots of rain, but despite concerns (Spanish) expressed about it, I have yet to see lahars at Popocatépetl in the news.

As dramatic as the eruptions have been recently, perhaps they have not produced as much ash as in the first few years after Popo woke up, when there were major lahars.
