Back on January 13, a Namibia Cam caught the birth of a baby zebra (lower right).
Imagine having to get up and walk right after you’re born (or have given birth)!
But such is life for all prey animals in the wild. It’s very hard but contains some wonderful moments.
More information:
- Zebra in Namibia
- Animals of the Kalahari. I’ve only seen a wildcat through this cam; at other Namibia Cams, I’ve seen cheetahs and lions live, and also a leopard on an archived video. There are other predators, of course, including various jackal and hyena species, but fortunately none was around for Zeb’s birth (my nickname for the foal).
- Yes, there are gnus in that video (briefly), too.
- More on Namibia Cam and the company that operates it (no endorsement; I only have used the cam).
