This National Geographic Short Film Showcase production was uploaded to YouTube in 2016. They mention the Global Tiger Initiative, and here is how that stands today.

In brief, numbers are up in Russia but much more still needs to be done.

There is, of course, no way for us here in the West to know the status of such work there now. I hope it is funded and ongoing.
