After watching this video, I looked up the village of Paddapukur and was surprised to learn that, despite rustic appearances, it is a part of Calcutta —
— and so are fishing cats, apparently:
This video is titled “Fishing cats: The hunters of Kolkata’s waters.”
Their neighborhood reportedly is the East Kolkata Wetlands.
A little farther out, but still along the coast, Mongabay tells us, fishing cats prowl the mangroves of Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary, shown here:
This muscular small cat with a tiger’s personality is also found outside the sanctuary, and it eats other things besides fish.
