Guest Videos: “Cuon alpinus,” the Dhole


It isn’t easy to find videos that both show dholes and also tell a story.

These widespread Asian wild dogs just basically do doggo things out there, apparently, though I did find two “story” videos.

Let’s work our way up from the very basic to the story.

The very basics of dholes, as seen in Thailand:

No matter the species, there’s always one slowpoke on a trail walk.

It’s not exactly gripping drama to us, but conservationists love it since dholes are hard to find in this country.

On Sumatra, we get to know the dholes a little better:

Our first story is a simple one: feeding but nervous Indian dholes and hungry birds nearby, waiting.
