Blanford and Corsac foxes have broader ranges across Asia than the Asiatic cheetah does, which is found only in Iran these days, but something in a Tehran Times article inspired this post.
Reportedly:
“Blanford’s fox is assigned endangered by the Department of Environment, any hunting or trade of which is considered illegal,” [Jalil Imani, a biodiversity and ecosystems management expert] noted, adding, while Corsac fox has been listed as extinct before sighting some in northeastern part of the country, which switched to critically endangered…

I had heard of this little critter before but didn’t know much about it.
