“Adorable” and “hyena” are two words that most of us have never thought of combining, but the feliform African predators do have their human fans:
Okay. The teeth and that whole “carnivore” thing would scare me off, but I do understand that hyenas get an undeservedly bad reputation from us. This might be overcompensation, but they seem to be having fun and it’s good to see them appreciated.
Just please don’t approach, let alone buddy up to a wild hyena or a tame one that you don’t know very, very well!
That said, wild hyenas enjoy water, too. They’re the only animals I’ve seen bathing in the Namib Desert waterhole:
That’s not one-off behavior, either.
I’ll bet the other animals hate them 😉
