Bad news first: It’s possible that I won’t get this week’s Friday cat and Saturday caniform posts out on time.
That means a double-dip next week, of course, which I suppose is good or or bad news depending on how much you like the features. 😉
Good news: Regarding the Krakatoa Part 3 post, it turns out that we’re in another of those UN-declared disaster risk reduction decades; this time, instead of volcanoes (the 1990s) it’s tsunamis, and volcano-caused tsunamis are getting a lot of attention for a variety of good reasons.
There is a lot of up-to-date information available online about Krakatoa/tsunamis, and also about tsunami early warning systems, and I’m processing all that for the Part 3 post.
That’s the main reason for this brief schedule interruption, but it’s also true that tectonically the Sunda Strait, and possible the ultimate reasons why there is a Krakatoa in the first place, are fascinating. It’s also cutting-edge research and I need to write about it carefully as well as (hopefully) in simple but interesting ways. That’s tricky.
I really want to make Part 3 this coming weekend’s Sunday Morning Volcano post and might have to postpone the other two weekenders to do it.
We’ll see how it works out. Again, thank you SO much for your interest, likes, and encouragement!
Some lagniappe:
Have been going through some videos, too, and will be using the campfire/beach scene in this video (around the 43:00 mark) to help set the scenery described in the Part 3 post, but hey — lots of people are interested in Bali, Java, and the tropics, and also I’m fascinated by tank animals rhinoceroses (near the video’s end), so let’s look at the whole thing!
