I hung in there on Twitter after its buyout until this past week, when Mr. Musk changed twitter.com to x.com.
Twitter.com was “Us,” never more so than during the recent geomagnetic storm when all those aurora photos and tweets swept the world.
That’s what I liked, and it’s a worthy heritage that should have gotten respect from its new owner but never did.
X.com is “him” and as far as I’m concerned, he can have it.
But there was a lot of good information for this blogging, as well as fun stuff, that I now need to replace.
So I’m investigating alternatives and adding them to my profile. Thus far:
- I’ve been on Facebook and Linked In for a while, and was turned off by the aggressive commercialism of Facebook (including spam) and probably getting catfished by my stalkers on Linked In. Many of the information sources I followed on Twitter are at these venues, though, and I will deal with the negative stuff and stay informed here.
- Mastodon is terrific for relaxation, but it is very, very decentralized (not a bad thing, of course!).
- Right now, I’m exploring Blue Sky, liking what little I’ve seen of it, and plan to explore other sites as well (will add any new ones to this post and the profile).
Some of my profile stuff on these older social sites could use some updating, so that’s an ongoing project now, too.
As always, thank you for your interest and all the likes, too!
